100 tons of rotten and overripe tomatoes were thrown in La Tomatina tomato-throwing festival in the town of Bunoi in Spain on Wednesday, August 26
Town officials estimated that more than 40, 000 of people took part as plum tomatoes covered walls and bodies to the enjoyment of all concerned. Participants came from as far as Japan and Australia.
It has been said that La Tomatina tomato throwing festival started around 1940.
The event lasts only one hour.
